2060 Chiron, also known as 95P/Chiron, is a minor planet in the outer Solar System, orbiting between Saturn and Uranus.Discovered in 1977 by Charles T. Kowal (precovery images have been found as far back as 1895), it was the first-identified member of a new class of objects now known as centaurs—bodies orbiting between the asteroid belt and the Kuiper belt. Goldschidt's discovery was never confirmed, and Chiron was never seen again. Orbital Elements at Epoch 2459000.5 (2020-May-31.0) TDB Reference: JPL 128 (heliocentric ecliptic J2000) 2060 Chiron ( / ˈ k aɪ r ə n / KY-rən; Greek: Χείρων) is a minor planet in the outer Solar System.
It has since been determined that no such moon exists. Hermann Goldschidt announced the discovery of the ninth moon of Saturn in April 1861, which, he said, orbited between Titan and Hyperion. 2060 Chiron, al doilea, ca mărime, centaur cunoscut, devine astfel a doua planetă minoră și în același timp al doilea centaur, după 10199 Chariklo, cel mai mare centaur cunoscut, în jurul căruia au fost detectate inele.
